Harmonic Filters
Under normal conditions, it is desirable that the mains voltage is sinusoidal. However, for various reasons, the mains voltage is removed from the sinusoidal form and high frequency components, called harmonics, are formed. Harmonics can have very dangerous consequences for businesses when they exceed certain limits. For this reason, harmonic filter reactors must be used in the compensation panels in the cases where the harmonics are high. In this way, both resonance events which are dangerous to the system are prevented. Condensers are also protected from harmful effects of harmonics.
