Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) An application layer protocol that facilitates the management and monitoring of systems. With this protocol, virtually any device on the network can be monitored and configurations can be changed. SNMP is a component of the TCP / IP protocol suite and contains standards such as an application layer protocol, database schema, data objects.
MIB (Management Information Base): It is a data base which is located in each device's local area and has information about the device which is accessed by the agent in the device.
With SNMP, information can be obtained from a UPS or the UPS can be changed and a new configuration can be applied to the device. For example, the UPS can be initialized, a configuration file can be sent to the UPS, or it can be obtained from the UPS. Obviously, SNMP greatly simplifies UPS monitoring and management.
